Joe Spalding, 84, died Monday, September 2, 2024.
He was born Joseph Arnold Spalding on November 10, 1939 in Howardstown, Ky, son of John R. and Ethel Boone Spalding. Joe retired from General Electric after 32 years of service. He was an Army veteran, a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a very devoted 36 year member of AA.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Bland Spalding; children, Ron Spalding (Melissa), Pam Carter (Jeff Hensel) and Lisa Schoenbachler (Adam); grandchildren, John Spalding (Lindsey), Katie Smaby (Remy), Sydney Cloyd (Ben), Shayla Armstrong (Chance), Michael Hellmueller (Amanda) and Marc Hellmueller (Lexie); great grandchildren, Wyatt, J.B., Annabelle, Boone, Benjamin, Carter, Bella, Cooper, Mattie, and one more expected in January; step-grandchildren, Alyssa, Lindsey and Rachael Richter, Austin Schoenbachler (Ashley) and Josh and Nick Hensel; and sisters, Mary Margaret Correll and Carolyn Durbin.
Funeral mass is 12pm Friday, September 6, 2024 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 155 Stringer Lane, Mt. Washington, KY followed by burial at 3pm in St. Ann Cemetery, Howardstown Road, New Haven, KY. Visitation is 3-7pm Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY.
