Joe Talamantez Jr. went home to our Lord on July 26, 2025. Mr. T, as he was known, was a loving father and grandfather. He loved to watch the cowboys play football and loved watching old westerns and playing golf. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren. Mr. T was a lifelong educator and principal, serving in the communities of Crystal City, Asherton, Big Wells and Carrizo Springs. He was proud to have served on the Board of Trustees of CSCISD. We will miss him but hold wonderful memories in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents Maria Zavala Talamantez and Jose L. Talamantez and siblings Salvador Marquez, Aberlardo Marquez, Adelina Marquez Sanchez, Elida Marquez Janavaras and Monica Talamantez Puente. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Lozano Talamantez, his children Juan Talamantez, Jose L. Talamantez III (Christina M. Talamantez), Martha Talamantez Gonzalez (David Gonzalez) and grandchildren Elizabeth Grace Solis (Juan Solis), Isabella Maria Talamantez, Brianna R. Campos, Jose L. Talamantez IV, Steven R. Campos Jr. and sister Rosario Salinas (Ralph Salinas).

The Talamantez family will honor their loved one on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Leonard Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where a funeral mass will begin at 10 a.m.
