In Loving Memory of Joel Lambert Amos

Joel Lambert Amos, age 80, was called to his eternal home on August 19, 2025, in Troy, Alabama.

Born on August 23, 1944, in Troy, Alabama, Joel was the son of the late William Revill Amos and Lillian (Dubose) Amos. A friend to many, Joel's life was marked by his unwavering love for his family and his Savior, Jesus Christ. Joel graduated from Charles Henderson High School in 1962, where he made life-long friends and loved participating in sports such baseball and football.

Joel later worked for the Alabama Department of Transportation before embarking on a distinguished 40-year career at Wiley Sanders Truck Lines where he retired as Fuel Tax Manager in the Fuel Tax & Permit Division.

Beyond his professional life, Joel faithfully served his community, state, and nation through 31 years of dedicated military service in the Alabama Army National Guard. He found great joy in traveling with his wife and family, cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, and passionately supporting Troy University athletics. Above all, Joel's deepest devotion was to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whose love and grace shaped his life and legacy.

Joel is preceded in death by his parents, Revill and Lillian Amos, as well as his brother Bill Amos (Ann). He is survived by:

• His wife of nearly 58 years: Linda Carroll Amos of Troy, AL

• His son: Chris Amos (Melissa) of Prattville, AL

• His daughter: Allison Amos Kelly (Chris) of Woodstock, GA

• His grandchildren: Brooks and Mary Camden Amos of Prattville, AL, Shundrika, Zollise, and Tate Kelly of Woodstock, GA

• His brother: Michael R. Amos (Carol) of Troy, AL

A celebration of Joel's life will be held on Sunday, August 24th at First Baptist Church, 200 College Street, Troy, AL 36081. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by the Celebration of Life service at 3:00 PM.

The Amos family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Enhabit Home Health & Hospice, and especially the compassionate caregivers Jean Thompson, Karen Williams, and Nikka Knox, who provided such kind and sympathetic care during Joel's final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that love offerings be made in Joel's memory to support the First Baptist Church of Troy Building Fund through:

Yesterday

We are remembered in moments of time. Those moments create individual memories that make up our legacy. When I met Joel he was a quiet supporter of his wife Linda and her love of the art of stain glass. Content to come to the Colley Center and just watch her work and converse with the other artists as they worked, is my memory moment. My condolences to Linda and to your family.
