Joel Fehring, 30, of Churubusco, passed away on October 15, 2024, in Clay County Kansas. He was born in Kettering, Ohio on November 15, 1993, to John and Rhonda (Rhodes) Fehring. He spent his formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School in 2012. Joel was a devoted son, a beloved brother, and a loved friend. His life, although cut short, was marked by a spirit of adventure, a love for his country, and a passion for his hobbies. Joel served in the United States Army as a Combat Medic, a role he took on with immense bravery and dedication. His service spoke volumes of his character - strong, fearless, and selfless. After his retirement, Joel continued to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. He loved to immerse himself in the virtual worlds of video games, the thrill of climbing, the mechanics of cars, and the simple joy of drinking Mountain Dew. These hobbies, while seemingly simple, brought him immense joy and created countless memories for those who knew him. Joel is survived by his parents, Rhonda and John Fehring; his twin sister, Rachel (Jonathan) Huhta; his brothers, James Fehring, Roy (Kelsey Shanabarger) Sabatino, and Jacob (Stephanie) McConnell; three nieces and three nephews. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at, Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling one hour prior to the service. The family will also receive family and friends on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
