Mr. Joel Thomas Flournoy, a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the age of 71. He was born May 5, 1951, in Georgia, to Mr. Robert Joel and Mrs. Alice Jewell Flournoy.
Mr. Flournoy is survived by his sister, Jewell McGee (Mickey); two nieces, Heather Sayers, Amy Peterson (Danielle); two nephews, Robert Flournoy (Kim), Brad Flournoy (Darylynn); nine great nieces and nephews, Abbie Flournoy, Amber Sayers, Morgan Flournoy, Olivia Peterson, Tyler Flournoy, Tyler Sayers, Ryan Flournoy, Bryce Christopher, Drew Flournoy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Robert and Mrs. Alice Flournoy; two brothers, Bob Flournoy, Paul Flournoy; grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. W.D. Flournoy and Mr. And Mrs. E.A. Redding.
Joel Flournoy, aka Fluker was a unique and special man, he was a son, brother, and his favorite title Uncle Joel! Joel was very ill as a child and teen which prevented him from participating in many activities, because of this he developed a passion for reading any and everything. His greatest hobby during this time was building model cars and airplanes. In later years he continued his passion for cars of which he had many over the years. Joel worked as a car salesman and finance director at many different car dealerships continuing that passion. After he retired, he returned to his passion for reading. Joel was never married but developed a fan base that was quite remarkable due to his outgoing personality. If you knew him, you loved him. He worked as a restaurant and bar manager for many companies which increased his number of friends that he treasured. He was a great friend and so much fun, we will miss him dearly.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022, with a visitation from 1:00pm until service time at 2:00pm at Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Kandy Gantt officiating, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing.
