ERROL – Joel Jandreau, 77, of Errol, passed away late on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, at the home of his son in Errol after a long period of declining health.
He was born in Fort Kent, Me., on Aug. 18, 1947, a son to the late Wilfred and Georgiana (Gagnon) Jandreau. His family relocated to Berlin when Joel was a young boy and he was raised and educated there.
Music was his life's passion. Joel was a talented and self-taught, guitar player and singer. His interest in music was rooted in a love for classic country-western. Even though he was a rather shy and private man, he was the "favorite uncle" for all of his nieces and nephews. He was the primary caretaker for his wife in her final years of ill health and also for his own parents in northern Maine.
Joel leaves behind his two sons, Joel D. Jandreau and Tim Jandreau, both of Errol; a brother, "June" Jandreau of Fredericksburg, Va.; two sisters, Mabeline Saucier of Madawaska, Me., and Wini Charette of Fort Kent; a grandson, Jace Jandreau; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, Rita (Dion) Jandreau in 2015; a brother and four sisters.
There are no public calling hours. A graveside interment service will be held in Errol in the spring of 2025, of which notice will be given.
Condolences may be offered on-line by going to www.jenkinsnewman.com.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook.

Joel and I played gigs together. A gentle man who was incredibly gifted. He should have been in Nashville. Now heaven gets to hear him. I get there and we will jam, Joel.
