"Talk to me, Goose" - Maverick, Top Gun
Joel Ontiveros Jr, 56, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by
his family on Friday, July 12th.
Joel was born May 8th, 1968, in Houston, Texas. After graduating from Temple High
School in 1986, he joined the Army where he served for four years and fought in
Operation Desert Storm. After finishing his service, he married his high school
sweetheart, Sandy, and moved his family to New Mexico where they raised their two
daughters. Shortly after moving, he began his career working at Intel as a Manufacturer
Technician and would continue so for the next 28 years.
Joel loved to grill food for family gatherings and for football Sundays to watch the Dallas
Cowboys. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and was fond of scenic views. Having had
a passion for photography, he was always sure to capture every moment, especially
with his grandchildren that meant so much to him. But most of all, his greatest JOY was
spending time with his family.
He was a loyal, loving, dedicated, hardworking individual who always put the needs of
others ahead of his own. Joel's memory will remain in the hearts of his family, friends
and all those who were honored to have had the privilege of knowing him.
Joel is survived by his spouse Sandy (Cortez) Ontiveros,
Mother Ruby Marie Garcia, her husband Brad Nordhougen,
his daughters Alissa Pino and husband Orlando Pino,
and Samantha Marquez and her husband Michael Marquez Jr.,
his brother Christopher Ontiveros, and his partner Chris Apodaca.
Along with his four grandchildren Malachi Pino, Gabriella Pino, Isabella Pino, and Ezekiel Marquez.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joel Ontiveros Sr and his sister, Isabel Ontiveros.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 3rd at Crossroads Nazarene
Church. 2950 W Ray Rd, Chandler, AZ 85224. The viewing for family and friends will
begin at 9:15 AM and the service to follow at 10:00 AM.
