Joel Daniel Royal, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and decorated veteran, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 86 years old.
Joel is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Lenora Royal. Together, they built a life grounded in love, family, and faith. He is also survived by his children: Robert Youngblood, Joel Muller, Pamela Warren, and James Royal. He was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Youngblood.
Joel was a proud brother to Sandra Thompson and Elaine (Boyd) Wessinger. His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
A proud patriot, Joel served 20 years in the United States Army, earning three Bronze Stars for his bravery and dedication. Following his military service, he retired from Goodyear, where he continued to exemplify hard work and integrity.
A celebration of Joel's life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Center Baptist Church in Wade, North Carolina. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place immediately after the service at the Royal Family Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Center Baptist Church Building Fund in Joel's memory.
Joel Daniel Royal will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his strength, service, and unwavering love for his family.
