Memorial services for JOEY HUNTER EATON, 25, will be held at 11am Monday, June 10, 2024 at Sonrise Church with Pastor Brent Mullock officiating. Joey died May 26, 2024 his life tragically cut short doing what he loved, camping at the lake with his mom and other family members. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the family or Boy Scouts of America Troupe #17 in Gering, Nebraska. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com.
Joey was born March 18, 1999 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He had a beautiful soul, big heart and superb work ethic. He was always smiling, kind and willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, whether they asked for his assistance or not. This included helping people cut their lawns, scoop snow, cut wood or anything else that came up. Joey was even known as a pre-teen to spend an entire afternoon in a frog stance using a scissors to cut a friend's lawn. He chose to do this with so much precision, keeping the lawn even and well cut, even with all the blisters. He was very proud of his work and others were equally impressed and pleased. Joey's first love was his mom, Jody. This was evident from the time he could walk and talk. While it is common for a toddler to always want to be by a parent's side, this continued into adulthood for Joey. He was protective of his mom, loved to tease her and would help her without being asked. This kindness and love that Joey had extended to his grandparents Larry and Lila, his siblings, extended family and everyone he met. He carried his heart on his sleeve and loved bigger than life. He didn't have a harsh word for anyone. Joey's smile, love, compassion and love for life and others will be greatly missed. As Joey often said to his mom, "I love you more than race cars, you are my best friend".
Joey is survived by his mother Jody Eaton; grandparents Larry and Lila Eaton; uncle and cousins Kelly, Leeah and Jessika Eaton; uncle and cousins Larry (Julie), Jayce and Sydney Eaton; sister ChyAnna Eaton; cousins Codi and Brady Williams; foster grandparents Jim and Jane Gall; and numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents Verona and Wendell Eaton and Dean and Gloria Williams.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Joey´s tragic passing. Growing up with Joey, I was always amazed by the joy and laughter he brought into our lives. His infectious smile and boundless energy were truly a gift to all who knew him.

I will always cherish the memories we shared as kids, playing in the pasture and embarking on countless adventures. Whether it was riding bikes, playing tag, or simply hanging out, Joey´s presence made everything more fun and exciting. He had a unique way of making everyone around him feel special and included.

It´s hard to believe that he´s no longer with us. I will miss him dearly, but I find comfort in the happy times we spent together and the lasting impact he had on my life. Joey´s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Please accept my deepest condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this incredibly difficult time.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Joe Huck
