When I met Joey 25yrs ago this December,I knew I was in for a long ride. He taught me how to throw darts the best he could as he was a master dart thrower.Which never worked for me. I always came first to Joey no matter what. I wished every woman could have a man who takes care of them like Joey did me. We had so much fun always. Yes, we had a lot of hard times but we always made it. The best 3 yrs of our lives was when Jess had Kaya and they lived with us. Even Kaya knew if it was the weekend it meant football at our house. She was the best cheerleader for Tennessee ever. She worshiped her Papaw Joey. Joey had a lot of sick years but never let on and he ask me not long ago why everything he gets is incurable. Joey enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved having our friends over so he could cookout for them and believe me their were many. I want to say a special thanks to some friends. I'm sorry I only know the ones in Knoxville and a few in Harrogate. First, his brothers from another mother, Sanni Miller who loved him dearly, Big Jim Miracle who we love dearly and Steve Clabough who was very quick to become Joey's best friend as soon as they met. All there were his brothers. His best pal his whole life Amy Peters. How I'm going to make it without him taking care of me I don't know. Almost 25yrs together 24/7 together. Including working togeher. I knew he loved me more than life itself. I love you baby, I'll see you again.
your loving wife,
Shelia
It is with a mix of heartbreak and tear we announce the passing of Joey who left us September 13, 2025 at the age of 57.
A beloved husband, Father, Papaw and a master of Dad jokes. He lived life with a spirit that could bring a smile out of anyone.
Born May 29, 1968 in Pineville, Ky he was an amazing man. Proud of his country and loved his music. An avid NASCAR fan, A VOLS fan for life and one of a kind. Know for his legendary Crawfish and his ability to throw one hell of a party. He always did everything he could for his girls Shelia, Jessica, and Kaya (Tater). He had a unique talent of turning any situation into a punch line. With his famous one liners or giving wise advice. He made sure laughter was a constant in our lives. His advice always sprinkled with humor. "If you can't laugh at yourself, call me I'll do it for ya."
He is survived by his devoted wife Shelia Wilder, mother Shirley Wilder, father Jerry Wilder, daughter Jessica Wilder, son in law Harley Green, his pride and joy his grand daughter Kaya Jade, son Anthony Moore, along with many other cousins, nieces, and his amazing Military family. We will forever raise a glass in his honor. In honor of Joey we invite you to share your favorite Dad joke or memory of Joey. Lets celebrate the life of a man who taught us laughter was the best medicine, especially with a crazy side of advice.
Rest easy Daddy, we promise to take that camping trip just be a little later. He loved this "Boogity Boogity Boogity, Let's go racing boys!"
your loving daughter,
Jessica
