Joey Jay Yahola, age 65, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born on December 22, 1959, in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his two children; ten grandchildren; sibling, Richard Yahola; cousin, Mike Morgan, and his devoted friend Lori Mitchell; three dogs, several cows, and numerous other relatives and friends. He enjoyed cutting grass, feeding the cows, and shooting pool.
He enjoyed seeing his friends around town. He was as comfortable talking about his cattle and ranching as he was talking about something related to anything about business or finance.
He was a lifelong resident of Wewoka. He was a proud class of 1978 Wewoka High School alumnus.
He was blessed with many families and friends. It was nothing out of the ordinary for him to anonymously provide meals or free lawn care for someone in need or ill.
His favorite verse was James 1:27. He lived out this verse through life by supporting children's homes, widows and shut ins. Annually on Valentine's Day, he would go throughout town taking flowers and gift baskets to widows for whom it would have been just another day.
If he talked to you about something serious, he always had great advice. He might suggest that someone getting ready for life after high school or college, they might participate in group activities such as clubs, interscholastics, or sports to learn how to work with others and learn how to face adversity. He will be missed.
Viewing will be held 2:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 23, 2025 and 9:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M., Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 25, 2025 at Church of Christ in Wewoka, OK with Dwight Parker officiating. Interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, OK.
Pallbearers: Bruce Wilkerson, Chris Anderson, Tony Bevelhymer, Mike Morgan, Chris Campbell, Jim Comstock.
