John R. Albrecht, 85, of Washington, Indiana passed away January 5, 2026. He was born in Bicknell, Indiana on November 18, 1940, to the late Ralph and Jenny Marie Albrecht. John graduated from Bicknell High School in 1959 and continued his education at the Bear Alignment School. He married the love of his life, Nancy Jean Mundy, on June 18, 1960. John worked for CSX Railroad for more than 35 years as a railroad engineer.

In his early years, John enjoyed wood working and welding. He was also an avid reader, bow hunter, mushroom hunter, and fisherman. John loved his grandchildren, had a spunky personality, and great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.

John was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Jenny Marie Albrecht; wife Nancy Albrecht; siblings Dean Albrecht and Laura Jane Walker; grandchild Chad Tharp.

He is survived by his children Debra (Terry) Tharp, John Albrecht II, Ed (Tricia) Albrecht, Fred (Pam) Albrecht; grandchildren JR (Jenny) Albrecht, Aron (Hope) Albrecht; CJ (Whitney) Albrecht, Staci (Corey) O'Brian, Tyler (Mary) Albrecht, Allan Albrecht, Marie Elrod, Blake Albrecht, Ashlee (TJ) Shevchenko, Brian Tharp, Allie Tharp, Melissa Tharp; 29 great-grandchildren.

Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of John. A Burial of Cremated Remains will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 2 pm in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery and all are welcome to join.
