John Edward Allen, 83 of Seymour, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024 in Seymour.
Services will be held Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. David Warren and Dillon Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
John was born July 12, 1940 in Knox City to L.D. and Irene Welch Allen. He was a graduate of Vera High School and worked for Tx DOT for 33 years. He also farmed all his life. John married Ann Blankenship in 1960. He married Juaniece Copeland in 1985. Juaniece preceded him in death on July 2, 2014. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seymour.
He is survived by 6 children, Brian and Denise Allen of Seymour, Mickey and Gayla Allen of Vernon, Amy and Donnie Peters of Cooper, Teresa Copeland of Seymour, Danny and Shelly Copeland of Brownwood and Tammie Stephens of Merkel; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.

I met Johnny and Ann when I was going with Lloyd Don Welch. I loved how the guys would get to talking and burst out laughing about something they had done. When we moved to Knox county they were our best friends.
