John B. "Jack" Antkowiak, 72, of Peru, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at St. Joseph's Church, Peru with Rev. Ronald Margherio, OSB officiating. Burial will follow in Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7:00 PM Monday at the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru with a liturgical prayer service at 3:45 PM. Additional visitation will be 9-10:50 AM Tuesday at the church.
Jack was born April 8, 1950 in Peru to John and Colette (Wagner) Antkowiak. He was a graduate of St. Bede Academy and Illinois Valley Community College. He married Patricia Benedict on June 7, 1980 in Peru and together they had two daughters, Stacy and Holly.
Jack was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Peru. He worked as a meat cutter at Eagle's, later the Jewel Food Store for 42 years and also did tax preparation for Abacus Tax Services for over 11 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing with his brother and was a lifelong Atlanta Braves Fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Stacy (Jack) Satterstrom of Des Moines, IA and Holly (Peter) Faletti of LaSalle; five grandchildren, Nicolette, Reagan and Hailey Satterstrom, Julia and Madelyn Faletti; one brother, David (Nancy) Antkowiak of Peru; his mother-in-law, Marian Benedict; two sisters-in-law, Lois Antkowiak and Cynthia Harzheim and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul Antkowiak; his father-in-law, Arthur Benedict; his brother-in-law, John Harzheim and a nephew, Jim Antkowiak.
Pallbearers will be Mike Radtke, Randy Strauch, Marty Conrad, Steve Draper, Mike Schneider and Charlie Faletti. Honorary pallbearers will be Mario Gaeta and Mike Slutz.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Bede Academy or the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
