John A. Aquila of Midland Beach passed away on Sunday October 6, 2024. Born in Brooklyn NY to the late Frank & Palmina Aquila. John proudly served his Country in the United States Army, completing his tour of Duty in 1972.
John worked for for many years on Wall Street for Oppenheimer and Company, helping to facilitate stock transactions. After his retirement he started his own business as an IT repairman, fixing and troubleshooting computers and other electronic equipment.
John was very gifted with his hands, he would attempt to fix or repair just about anything around the house and he prided himself on his prowess when it came to automotive repairs. A simple man, John enjoyed the simple pleasures life offered, spending time with family, making the world better for others, watching NASCAR races and taking the occasional trip down to Atlantic City to try his luck.
John was pre deceased by his loving wife Gail who passed in 2012 and a sister. He is survived by his devoted son John and his wife Sandra Schoppmann - Aquila, along with his surviving sister and two brothers.
Family and friends are asked to gather Friday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at The John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc. 28 Eltingville Blvd. Religious services will take place in the Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Moravian Cemetery.
