Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rogers Family Mortuary - Alamosa on Jan. 13, 2026.
John Edwin Archer, a remarkably loving, intelligent, and handy man, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, in
Alamosa, Colorado. Born on June 19, 1958, in
Kansas City, Missouri, to proud parents Edwin Jacob Archer and Doris Jeannette Robbins, John's vibrant spirit and infectious laughter set the tone for a life rich in joy, craftsmanship, and community.
John was a master carpenter by trade, channeling his remarkable intelligence into shaping wood and dreams alike as the respected owner and operator of San Juan Construction. His work adorned homes and businesses across Alamosa and beyond, where he was not just a contractor but a pillar of the local landscape, touching lives with his dedication and unmatched skill.
He will be dearly missed by his cherished partner, Marge Martinez, with whom he shared countless sunsets and endless adventures. His love for Marge was mirrored in the proud eye he cast upon his daughter, Jacqueline (Ricardo Linares) Archer, and his affection for his step-children, Jennifer Garcia and Mario Suazo. John's legacy continues to flourish through his grandchildren, Javier (Alysia) Linares and Leticia Linares; his great-grandson Tomás Linares and numerous grandchildren, who will remember him as a gentle giant with a soft spot for endless stories.
The Archer family circle holds tight the memories of John's endearing presence, including his sisters, Vicki Archer and Kathy Corbett. His playfulness and hearty laughter will be fondly recalled by his nephew, Sam Corbett, and his niece, Laura Corbett (Elliot) Mann.
The open roads often called to John, and he answered with the rumble of his beloved Harley motorcycle beneath him. Cumbres Pass and Wolf Creek Pass were among his favorite routes, each curve an unwritten verse in the poetry of his life's adventure. His love for the outdoors was as boundless as the Colorado skies, joyfully manifested in fervent fishing, camping, and hunting trips.
A true artist in the kitchen, John was a perfectionist with his smoking and frying of turkeys, and he generously shared his culinary talents while volunteering at the Elks Lodge and the Alamosa Building Supply. Patrons and friends at the local Safeway will miss the everyday cheer he brought to the aisles, never short on a friendly greeting or a light-hearted prank.
John now joins his parents, Edwin and Doris, and his brother, Mark Archer, in eternal peace. While he has left the earthly roads and trails he so loved, his spirit continues to soar with the laughter he left behind and in the stories that will be told and retold in his memory.
