John Hammond Baird, age 79 of Pikeville, went to his eternal home on September 25, 2025. He was born on February 3, 1946, at Pikeville, son of William J. Baird and Florane Justice Baird.

John is survived by his loving wife, Jayne E. Baird. He was a proud father to one daughter, Katheryn Gray McGregor (John); one son, William J. Baird IV (Natasha); two step, children Emily Skaggs (Jamey) and Sarah McGuire; and seven grandchildren: Blake McGuire, William J. Baird V, Maggie Baird, Harper Gray McGregor, Jayne Skaggs, Kathryn Skaggs, and Jack McGregor. As well as a devoted family of siblings including one sister, Jane C. Evans, and two brothers, William J. Baird III (Kathryn) and Charles J. Baird (Kitty).

John was a lifelong and active member of The First Presbyterian Church of Pikeville, having served as a deacon then later as an elder. He was a graduate from Pikeville High School in 1964. He graduated from Morehead State University in 1968 with a degree in Business Administration and a Minor in Economics. In 1971, he earned his Juris Doctor from The University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. He was a member of the firm Baird & Baird, P.S.C., and its predecessor, from 1971 until he passed.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 29 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at J. W. Call Funeral Home, Pikeville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 30th starting at 2:00 PM at The First Presbyterian Church of Pikeville with Pastors Scott Robinson and Guy Moyer officiating.

Burial will follow at Johnson Memorial Cemetery, South Mayo Trail of Pikeville. John and Jayne's seven grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The Family wishes to thank a wonderful team of caregivers that have offered much love over the past months-Becky Standifur, Tiffany Huffman, Pauline Branham, and Shana Adkins.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Pikeville, 508 Cedar Creek Rd, Pikeville, KY 41501 or Westcare Homeless Shelter 173 Redale Rd, Pikeville, Ky 41501.
