John J. Barry, age 66, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1990, formerly of Oak Lawn, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 30, 2024, at his home. He was born on January 30, 1958, in Chicago, IL.
Beloved husband of Karen E. Barry (nee Morjal), whom he married March 2, 1990, loving father of Ryan Patrick Barry and Matthew Peter Barry, and, of course, Tanner. Devoted son of the late John "Jack" (Judy) Barry and the late Anita (nee Klatt) Barry, dear brother of Jay (Amy) Barry, Jeff (Annette) Barry, Joe Barry, Jim (Bridget) Barry and Jeanne (Will) Rodenkirch, son-in-law of the late Gus and June Morjal, brother-in-law of Tammy Barry, Peter and Barbara Morjal and Patty and Bob Pagni, fond nephew, cousin, uncle, great-uncle, and adored friend to many.
John grew up in Oak Lawn, IL, attended St. Catherine of Alexandria Elementary School, and was a 1976 graduate of St. Rita of Cascia High School in Chicago, where he excelled as a running back on the football team. He received a bachelor's degree in economics from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN, and was a member of the Wabash football team that played Widener in the 1977 Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl. The Pioneers beat John's Little Giants 39–36.
John was employed as a broker for many years at The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT). He enjoyed vacationing with family and friends, football, skiing, golfing, gardening, and everything about Naperville. But, most of all, he adored his boys and lived life to the fullest.

My sympathies to Karen & the Barry Family in this very difficult time. John and I were friends since 1st grade and grew up playing football & hockey in his backyard. We lost touch when I moved out of state many years ago but was fortunate enough to play in a foursome at Geneva, Wisconsin this past June, we laughed all day long as if we were still in the yard. RIP Johnny!, you will be missed!
