John Michael “Mike” Bell, 74, went to be with his Lord Monday, April 21, 2025 in Denton, Texas.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3rd, at St. John Baptist Church with burial following at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 2nd, at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
John was born October 24, 1950 to John Willie Bell, Jr. and Dorothy Nell (Brooks) Bell in Decatur, Texas. He graduated Decatur High School and attended St. John Baptist Church, he restarted the church in 2021 and became a trustee during this time. John was retired from EMC Plastics in Denton after many years as a supervisor, after retirement with EMC, he went into the food industry for numerous years. He was president of East Side Alumni, organizer of the Juneteenth celebrations, and the Wise County Coalition. He was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Willie Bell, Jr.; a sister, Connie Bell; and son, John Garrett.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Dorothy Bell of Decatur; his 4 sisters, Joyce Bell of Decatur, Phyllis Russell and husband Ray of Decatur, Linda Bell of Decatur, and Vanessa Bell of Denton; his brother, Tommy Bell and wife Elizabeth of Decatur; his special aunts, Gwen Brooks and Eva Davis; numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, and a host of friends, including his St. John Baptist Family.
