John "Johnny" Bernach, 72, passed away on his 19th wedding anniversary July 26, 2024 at Mercy House of the Southern Tier after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is predeceased by his parents Theresa and Walter Bernach; mother-in-law Lucy Black and step son-in-law Neil Farrant. He is survived by devoted wife Joanne; stepdaughter Kristin Farrant; brother-in-law Harry (Linda) Black of Chattanooga, TN; special friend Ron Taylor and his cat fur babies.
Johnny was an auto mechanic for over 50 years after retiring from Gault Chevrolet and then worked at #1 Preferred Used Car Sales until his health declined due to his illness. He loved to travel, especially Las Vegas where he married Joanne in 2005. He loved working with leather, making belts and other leather goods.
We would like to thank his doctors; Dr. Yan Liu, Dr. Rashid, Dr. Ronald Harris, Michelle Rising NP, and the entire staff at Broome Oncology. A special thanks to Lourdes Hospice and Mercy House of the Southern Tier for making his final days peaceful.
In honoring Johnny's request there will be no services. Please consider a donation in memory of Johnny to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N. Mckinley Ave Endicott NY.
