John Brim, a man whose life embodied resilience, courage, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, at the remarkable age of 102, with his children by his side.

Born on April 12, 1922, in Flora, Indiana, John was the son of Rolla and Mildred Brim and the brother of Gene Brim and Joy Briggs. Growing up in a time of great change, John went on to serve as a Seabee in the Pacific Theater during World War II. As part of the United States Navy’s elite Seabees, John worked tirelessly to unload ships under Japanese sniper fire and played a pivotal role in building airstrips on Guadalcanal, Okinawa, and Iwo Jima. His bravery, resilience, and dedication to his fellow servicemen were defining characteristics that shaped his life and character.

After the war, John turned his focus to building a life with the same perseverance and drive he had shown on the battlefield. In 1948, he founded Brim Concrete in Flora, Indiana, with just a 2.5-yard concrete mixer and a vision for the future. His hard work and commitment to excellence allowed the company to thrive, eventually expanding in 1962 with a second plant in Monticello, Indiana. Though John “officially” retired at 90, his passion for his work never faded, and he could still be found operating a loader at 95, proving that age was simply a number for a man whose spirit remained tireless.

John’s love story with his wife, Roberta "Bobbie" Brim, spanned over 50 years. Together, they built not only a family but also a partnership rooted in love, respect, and shared purpose.

John is survived by his beloved family and many friends whose lives he touched through his kindness, determination, and infectious work ethic. He leaves behind not just a successful business, but a lasting impact on all who knew him.John’s children, Kristen Sullivan and her partner Jerry Watts, Brad and Lora Brim; his grandchildren, Sloan Sullivan, Summer Sullivan, and Betsy Brim (partner Jay Hobbs); his great-grandchildren, Kaden Clugston, Alexis Clugston, Raven Sullivan, Sydney Sullivan, and Mikael Sullivan; and his great-great-granddaughter, Brenna Skratsky. He is also survived by his friend and caregiver, Tonya Krintz.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta "Bobbie" Brim, his grandson Jonathan Brim, his son-in-law Mike Sullivan, his brother Gene Brim and sister Joy Briggs.

John Brim lived a full, remarkable life-a life that will forever inspire all who knew him. He is now at peace, but his legacy will endure for years to come.
