John Joseph Burtzlaff passed away on July 22, 2025, in Galien, MI. Born on November 20, 1953, in Three Oaks, MI, John's journey was one marked by hard work and love for his family.
John's early years were spent in the rural charm of Three Oaks, where he was born to the late Jacob and Charlotte (Sasson) Burtzlaff. Growing up on a farm, he developed a profound love for animals and the outdoors. This connection to nature was evident in his passion for fishing and riding motorcycles, pursuits that brought him immense joy throughout his life.
A graduate of Galien High School, John, carried the lessons of his upbringing into his adult life. He dedicated many years as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the Industrial Industry, where his work ethic and expertise were greatly valued.
John's life was further enriched by his role as a father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving children, Brook (Allan) Benhart, Jacob (Katlin) Burtzloff, and John Burtzlaff, who will cherish his memory alongside his adored grandchildren, Serenity, Jace, Landon, Oliver, Aurora, and Jacob. His sister, Iris (Jim) Lightner, will also hold dear the memories of her brother.
In his younger years, John was an active Jehovah's Witness, a faith that shaped his outlook and provided him with a community of friends and fellow believers. He enjoyed music and adventures on dirt bikes.
John's legacy is one of a life well-lived, marked by the joy he found in the simple things: a good day's work, the thrill of a motorcycle ride, the tranquility of a fishing trip, and the love of his family.
As we bid farewell to John Joseph Burtzlaff, we celebrate a life that exemplified strength, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. John's memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love he gave so freely.
