He was preceded in death by his parents, John Butler and Luckie Carden; brother, Tommy Butler; sister, Vicky Butler; and grandson, Elijah Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Butler; children, Kristin Long (David), Brittney Smith (Scott), and Zack Butler; grandchildren, Mason Smith, Emilee Lakey (Brandon), Lindy Johnson (Daniel), Chapman Smith (Ashlyn), Alyssa Long, Justin Long, and Izzy Butler; soon-to-be-arriving great-grandchildren, Baby Smith and Baby Lakey; sister, Tammie Raines; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024.
Johnny was given the gift of life, through organ donation. Please consider being an organ donor. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made at https://legacyofhope.org/donor-families/memorials-and-tributes/ to Legacy of Hope.

John and I drove many miles, and many hours together. Both being young Marines had memories to share of all life's good & bad. Truly NOTHING Surpass His LOVE for wife Mary & All his family . . . I will always remember John as I travel on. Larry
