John A. Calvo, 53, of Methuen, MA, passed away on February 19, 2025. Born on November 2, 1971, in Lawrence, MA, John was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of many.
John had a deep passion for mechanics, beginning his career as an automotive technician before finding his niche as a CNC machinist. He was a graduate of Methuen High School, Class of 1990, and built a life filled with hard work, adventure, and the love of family and friends.
Spending time with loved ones was at the heart of everything John did. Whether gathered around the kitchen table for a card game of "trentuno," enjoying a backyard barbecue, or just sharing laughter over a good conversation, he cherished every moment with family and friends. He loved riding motorcycles, spending time at his camp in the Northwoods of New Hampshire, and exploring the outdoors on ATVs. John also had a love for 80's rock 'n' roll and could often be found at local rock shows, enjoying the music that fueled his spirit. He always loved learning about American history and geography, topics that fascinated him throughout his life.
One of John's greatest joys was his loyal dog, Vinny-his little sidekick-whom he brought with him at every chance he could.
John is survived by his loving parents, Giuseppe and Cidolina (Lima) Calvo; his sister, Constance Marques, and brother-in-law, Vilton Marques, of Methuen, MA, along with their daughter, Arianna Marques; his brother, Joseph Calvo, and sister-in-law, Meaghan Calvo, of Atkinson, NH. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles, and cousins in Sicily and Portugal, as well as his beloved grandmother in Sicily. John had cousins and family in Massachusetts and New Hampshire as well, who will miss him dearly. John was predeceased by his grandparents, José and Maria Lima, and Giovanni Calvo.
John's presence brought warmth, laughter, and unforgettable memories to those around him. His love, humor, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Friday February 28, 2025 from 10:00AM – 1:00PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen, MA. A funeral service will be at 1:00PM. Burial will be in St. Mary's/Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
