John "Skipper" Campbell, 77, of Nickerson, died June 19, 2024, at his residence. He was born October 19, 1946, in Washington, D.C., to Ira William and Eunice Kathleen (Pitts) Campbell.
John graduated from El Cajon Valley High School in 1964. He later received his Master of Fine Arts. John owned and operated his own contracting firm. He enjoyed woodworking, surfing, fishing, and traveling across America. Rosita Beach, Mexico, held a special place in his heart.
On November 7, 2000, he married Patricia S. Schneider, in San Diego, Cal. They shared over 23 years of marriage.
John is survived by: wife, Patricia Campbell of Nickerson; daughter; son, John Paul Campbell of San Diego, CA; 4 grandchildren; stepchildren, Melissa (Jim Kelso) Collins of Holden, MO, Benjamin (Miranda) Brandt of Paola, KS, Amy (Jack) Rhea of Osawatomie, KS; brothers, Brad Campbell of Pine Valley, CA, Mickey Campbell of Monmouth, OR, and Rob Roy Campbell of San Diego, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Philip Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, at Elliott Mortuary. Click here to view the funeral service for Mr. Campbell.
