John Olin Carlock, 81, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026. Born on August 4, 1944, in Clinton Township, Pennsylvania, John lived a life defined by dedication to his family, his country, and the many students and athletes he mentored throughout his lifetime.

John proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, demonstrating the same sense of duty and commitment that would later define his career and community service.

Following his military service, John devoted 40+ years to education as a teacher and administrator. Throughout his career, he was deeply committed to helping young people succeed both academically and personally. His leadership, guidance, and steady example left a lasting impact on countless students, colleagues, and families.

John was widely respected for his years of service as a coach in multiple sports and built teams known for their hard work and sportsmanship.

Those who knew John remember him as a steady leader, a passionate teacher and someone who genuinely cared about the lives of the young people he coached and taught. Whether in the classroom, on the field, or in the community, John believed strongly in giving back and making a difference in the lives of others.

John was a devoted husband and family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Judith Fryzel Carlock, whose support and partnership were central to his life. Together they shared many years of love, dedication, and family memories.

He is also survived by his children: Christie Carlock Holst, Tim Carlock, and Todd Wright (wife, Nicole Boyce Wright). John cherished his role as a father and took great happiness in watching his family grow.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Carlock.

John was also the proud grandfather of 14 amazing grandchildren, each of whom brought him tremendous joy and pride throughout his life.

John truly loved giving back to his community and spent his life helping others grow, succeed, and believe in themselves. His legacy will live on through his family, his former students and players, and the countless people whose lives he touched.
