John Carpenter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller Funeral Services - Houston on Oct. 17, 2024.
John A. Carpenter, age 60, passed peacefully on Sunday October 13, 2024. He was born in Houston, TX on December 21, 1963, to James A. Carpenter and Danielle R. Carpenter, who have preceded him in death.
John attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School and Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and went on to graduate from the University of Texas at Austin. John served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy and is a veteran of the Gulf War. He met his wife while stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. John's love of Texas and his large extended family brought them back to Houston, Texas to raise a family. John ended his long-standing career in the crane industry as a Senior Sales Manager at Maeda America and was recognized as a subject matter expert in his field.
John was an avid hunter and fisherman and was happiest when outdoors and with his family. He made many lifelong friends throughout the years and loved sharing his interests in food, photography, football, music, movies, and history.
John is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Michele Carpenter; and their two children, J. Connor Carpenter (fiancée Colby Graff) and Colleen Carpenter. John is also survived by his brother, Scott Carpenter (wife Angela); sister, Dr. Anne Carpenter; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. John will be missed by many but will be remembered for his passion for living life to the fullest.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday November 8th, 2024, at 10:00AM at St. Vincent de Paul Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77025.

John Carpenter was one of a kind, a special person. I first met John in high school, where upon reflection, he had a profound impact on my life. I entered Jesuit from public school, outside the path of most of my classmates. I knew almost no one my freshman year. It was lonely until I met John, where he connected me to what would become a world of great lifelong friendships. John was a connector. He brought people together. He was the stud on the football team, who had enough self-confidence to befriend outsiders like me who were not part of the inner social groups. I entered that school knowing no one and exited knowing everyone. Those four years at Jesuit ended up being a wonderfully positive experience for me. And I will be forever grateful to that crazy guy who opened the doors to make that possible. I think of him often and try to carry that approach with me to this day.
