John V. Cegelis, 81, of Hampstead, NH, passed away on Friday evening, October 17, 2025, at the Lawrence General Hospital with his son Mark at his side.

He was born on February 13, 1944, to Mary (Gebala) and Anthony Cegelis. John was raised on Webster Court in Lawrence, Massachusetts. John attended Lawrence High School in Lawrence, MA and Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical School in Danvers, MA. He spent his career as a Union Machinist, devoting 32 years of service to Pope Machine Corporation on River Street in Haverhill, MA.

John had a passion for shooting, was a proud member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed spending a lot of time participating in various shooting activities at the Haverhill Hound Rod and Gun Club. John really enjoyed working with his hands, whether he was assembling wooden models, creating stained glass pieces or carpentry. John also had a love for classic cars, especially for his '54 Chevy. The Cegelis family owned a home on Lake Winnipesaukee in Laconia, NH and John truly enjoyed every moment there with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Doreen (Kress) Cegelis; his son, Mark Cegelis and his wife Kathleen; as well as his grandchildren, Anthony and Isabella.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brother, Anthony Cegelis.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 23rd, from 4 to 7pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, at 12pm, at St. Anne's Parish, 26 Emerson Road, Hampstead, NH. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Hampstead.
