Goodwin-Sievers Family Funeral Home - VincennesJohn Chamness, 76, of Vincennes, Indiana passed away on October 1, 2025. He was born in Vincennes, IN the youngest of 6 children on February 26, 1949, to the late Roy and Viola Chamness. John graduated from Lincoln High School and continued his education at Vincennes University. He proudly served his country in the United State Army. John worked for several years at the hospital cleaning surgical equipment before retiring.
In his free time, John enjoyed tinkering on his car, hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and watching his favorite sports teams. John was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and the Chicago Cubs. He will be deeply missed.
John is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Viola Chamness; mother of his children Donna Thorne; siblings Maxine Moore, William Chamness, Doris Risley, Edward Chamness, and Todd Chamness.
He is survived by his children Katina Cornell, Mindy (Chris) Ritchie, Jon (Kendra Crosby) Chamness; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; caretaker Becky Kidwell; and beloved cat Seminole.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Chamness. A visitation will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 524 Broadway Street from 11 am to 1 pm. The funeral service will begin promptly at 1 pm with a burial at Memorial Park following immediately after.
