Mr. John Christopher Chavis Jr. was born on November 19, 1998 in Robeson County. He transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, April 15, 2023 in Rowland, NC.
John graduated from Purnell Swett High School in Pembroke, NC. John was a construction worker. He worked alongside his father (John C. Chavis Sr.)
John loved his niece (Riley) and nephews (Jace and Lee). He cared for them like they were his own children. He also loved his chickens, ducks and dogs. John's favorite food was chicken. He would out run everyone to get to the kitchen for some chicken, and he would gladly take the last piece, and enjoy it with a big smile.
John was full of life. He found joy in cracking jokes on everyone, and he was a friendly young man with a loving heart, and he looked out for those he held close to his heart.
John had a special relationship with his grandfather the late Bobby Lee Chavis. They spent much time together enjoying each other's company, and working on endless projects in the yard and on the house and building things. Also, John and his father had a special bond. They were coworkers and most importantly they were best friends. John and his father were inseparable. John Jr. took pride in the construction work they did together, and he was very skillful and talented with helping to remodel and repair homes and build things.
John cherished his childhood best friend (Isaac). They grew up together, and they remained close friends as they got older, and he also cherished his relationship with his special cousin (William DeMarco Oxendine).
Left to cherish fond memories are: John Christopher Chavis Sr. (Father) Stephanie Scott (Step-Mother) of Rowland, NC. Mother Rena Oxendine, sisters Ashley Hunt, Tori Hunt and Deanna Chavis, brother Ryan Oxendine. Niece Riley, and nephews Jace, Lee and a host of aunts, uncles cousins.
