Pastor John Charles Clark, age 80, finished his earthly race and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 13, 2026. He passed peacefully at his home in Michigan, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and steadfast love for the Lord and his family.
A Life of Faithful Service
John was born on February 1, 1946, in
Detroit, Michigan, to Ernest and Lois Clark. At the age of nine, he received Christ as his personal Lord and Savior-a decision that shaped the course of his entire life. He graduated from Anchor Bay High School, where he also developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of the Great Lakes. Answering the Lord's call to full-time ministry, John went on to attend Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Theology.
Over 55 years John served in ministry from Minnesota to Michigan. Whether pastoring the youth, a congregation or community, John's heart was consistently patient, compassionate, and devoted to graciously pointing others to God's Word.
A Devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather
While John loved ministry, his greatest joy on earth was his family. For 56 years, he walked hand in hand with his beloved wife, Janelle, sharing a life built on faith, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Their marriage was a testimony of partnership and devotion, rooted in their shared love for Christ and for the family they built together.
John was a man of many passions. He loved the water and spent countless hours boating, skiing and fishing the Great Lakes. He enjoyed serving in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for 23 years, helping protect fellow boaters.
He dearly adored his four daughters and was so grateful to finally gain four amazing son-in-laws! He treasured his grandchildren and delighted in praying for each of them daily. In the spring of 2025, he officiated his oldest grandson's wedding and gained a new granddaughter-in law. Whether offering wisdom, telling stories, or simply enjoying their company, quality time with each was a gift. His family legacy continues, firmly rooted in faith, love, and a life of prayer.
