John "J.R." Clevenger, a cherished soul known for his generous spirit and loving nature, passed away on December 11, 2025, in his hometown of
Evansville, IN. Born on October 27, 1976, to the late John (JC) and Martha Clevenger, J.R. was a beacon of joy and kindness in the lives of all who knew him.
J.R. grew up surrounded by the love and companionship of his siblings, Pamela Davis, Linda Simpson, Linda Sadler, and Bobby Clevenger. His brothers-in-law, Kevin Sutton and Randy Simpson, along with his nieces and nephews, Amanda, Darcee, Jackie, and Bree, Casey, Cody, Brittney and many great-nieces and nephews, added to the warmth of his family circle. Each family member cherished their time with J.R., who was often described as a "big teddy bear" for his loveable and generous nature.
A man of many talents and interests, J.R. found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved to ride his moped, feeling the wind on his face and the freedom of the open road. His hands were rarely still, as he was always immersed in mechanical work or creating something beautiful with wood. His birdhouses and crafts were not just hobbies but tokens of love for those lucky enough to receive them.
Fishing was another of J.R.'s passions, providing him with peaceful moments by the water and the thrill of the catch. He also took great pleasure in shopping for others, always thinking of what would bring a smile to someone's face. Music was the soundtrack of his life, with rock and country tunes filling his home and heart.
J.R.'s love for Florida was well-known, as he often reminisced about the time he spent living there, embracing the sunshine and the vibrant community. His stories of Florida adventures were always a highlight at family gatherings.
Handy, generous, and loving-these words encapsulate the essence of J.R. His ability to fix anything that was broken extended beyond the mechanical; he had a knack for mending hearts with his kindness and laughter. His presence was a comfort, and his actions were a testament to the love he had for his family and friends.
As we bid farewell to J.R., we hold tight to the memories that he has left behind. His legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. J.R.'s spirit will live on in the birdhouses that adorn our gardens, the melodies that echo in our ears, and the countless lives he touched with his tender heart.
John "J.R." Clevenger will be deeply missed, but the imprint he left on this world will never fade. We take solace in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with his beloved parents and watching over us with the same love and care he so freely gave during his time on earth.
