Harwinton - John R. Conboy, 97, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024, at Valerie Manor, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of Anne M. (Mascetti) Eucalitto Conboy.
"Jack" was born in Providence, RI, on January 11, 1927, son of the late Thomas V. and Margaret E. (Waterman) Conboy, and had been a Torrington area resident for 70 years, wintering in Jupiter, FL. He was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran and retired Engineering Manager of the Torrington Company.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a truly good and kind man with a penchant for jokes. He will be sorely missed by anyone lucky enough to call him family and friend.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Anne, include two sons, John G. Conboy and his wife, Jeanne, of Albany, CA, and Robert T. Conboy and his wife, Janet, of Westford, MA; a daughter, Elizabeth M. Bawabe and her husband, Jon, of Columbia; three stepsons, Frank C. Eucalitto and his wife, Gigi, of Jupiter, FL, Gary W. Eucalitto and his wife, Susan, of Torrington, and John A. Eucalitto and his wife, Wendy, of Old Saybrook; a devoted stepdaughter who was dedicated to his care, Janice A. Bayette of Harwinton; a daughter-in-law, Maryanna Conboy of Sterling, VA; 20 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Conboy was predeceased by his first wife, Jeanne (Geary) Conboy, a son, James T. Conboy, and a stepson, Christopher J. Eucalitto.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Paul the Great Academy, 360 Prospect St., Torrington, CT 06790 or to the La Salle Academy, 612 Academy Ave., Providence, RI 02908.
