John J. Connors

John J. Connors, 81, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2022, at home with his loving wife Pat by his side. Formerly of New York City, NY, Wyckoff, NJ, and Pocono Pines, PA, John and Pat retired to Bonita Springs, FL, in 2014.
John was born in the Bronx, on March 13, 1941. After graduating from Cardinal Hayes High School, he began his career in the banking industry with First National City Bank and was the first graduate of the Bank's High School Training Program, called Fast Track. Entering the Evening School Division in 1960, John earned his Bachelor's Degree from St. Francis College in 1967. His career in the banking and financial services industry would last 40 years and include serving as President of Bradford National Corporation in New York, President of Boston Financial Data Services in Quincy, MA, and finally as President and Partner of Colson Services Corporation in New York.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1966 thru 1972 and was a 3rd-degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
A sports lover, John spent many years on the basketball and squash courts before taking up golf with his buddies in Pennsylvania and Florida, where the only thing sharper than his Irish wit was his slice off the tees. He was quick to light up a room with laughter, but even quicker to offer his friendship or a helping hand to anyone in need. He always found time to volunteer with various charities and local hospitals, spreading his warmth and wisdom to many.
John is preceded by his parents, Elizabeth (Daly) and John Connors; his sister Joan Richart, and brothers Thomas and James Tracy. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his brother Steven Tracy (Maryjo), 31 beloved nieces and nephews and a cadre of lifetime friends. "Gentleman Jack" will be lovingly remembered by many.
His family will receive friends on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the VanderPlaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM in the St. Joseph Chapel of the Salesians Sisters, 659 Belmont Avenue, Haledon, NJ. The burial will follow in Redeemer Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Salesian Sisters.
