John A. Critchlow, a man of warmth, talent, and avid love for life's simplest pleasures, passed away on June 19, 2025, in Mishawaka, IN. Born on January 13, 1962, in the sunny coastal city of Newport Beach, CA, John's journey began as a melody that would eventually harmonize beautifully with the lives of countless individuals.
John found the love of his life, Karen (Coonfare) Critchlow, and they married on March 7, 1982, in Starke County, IN. Their partnership was a testament to devotion, woven together by shared dreams and mutual support. John's father, John C. Critchlow, and his mother, Carol (May) Leborio, preceded him in death but passed on a legacy of resilience and integrity that John carried throughout his life.
John was the beloved father of Kimberly (Phillip) Beaulier, Derek, Brad (Doris Pace), Sean, Cody, and Eric Critchlow. He embraced fatherhood with an unwavering commitment to nurturing and guiding his children. Nothing brought him more joy than his grandchildren, Kyra, Caileigh, Bella, Kiari, Sophia, and Paisley, whose lives he enriched with laughter, love, and wisdom. He is also survived, by his sisters, Roxanne (Gene) Kosarzycki and Shelby (Sam) Tipton, and his brother, Patrick Leborio.
A patriot at heart, John served in the United States Coast Guard from 1980 to 1984, a period that sculpted his character, instilling in him a deep sense of duty and honor. Throughout his tenure, he formed enduring friendships and associations that venerated his commitment to service.
John was a man whose passion for life could hardly be contained. Whether it was music, where he exhibited a profound ability to pick up almost any instrument and play it, or his love for the outdoors and the water. Learning new things invigorated him, keeping his spirit young and his mind agile. Those who knew him often described him as fun-loving-a man who could turn any mundane moment into a cherished memory.
Per John's wishes there will be no services. Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel is honored to assist the family with final arrangements.
