John Maynor Crotchett, 69, passed away on March 14, 2025. John was born on April 11, 1955 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Lloyd and Dorothy Crotchett.

John was an integral part of the Hermann Hospital and Life Flight family, beginning his journey in the early 1980s in the Emergency Department before serving as a dispatcher while also working with the Houston Fire Department. He later became one of the first flight paramedics when Memorial Hermann Life Flight transitioned from a physician/nurse to a paramedic/nurse crew.

John's sharp clinical expertise, kindness, and fun-loving humor made him a beloved member of the team. He was not only a mentor to his colleagues but also a true friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of dedication, compassion, and camaraderie will always be remembered.

Not only was he devoted to his life careers, he was a devoted husband to his wife, Peggy Crotchett. When John Met Peggy, they decided to buy a ranch in Brenham and he became a rancher and a beloved father. With John's career at play he also showed hard dedication to all of the kids activities, including being at every show every game every event on top of being a part of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Cutting Committee. When John did something, it was go big or go home; kind of how he got the name Big John.

After many years of taking care of his job and boys, John became a papaw to his wonderful grandchildren, Weston a.k.a. W and Mackenzie a.k.a. sweet potato. There was nothing those two could do wrong and if they did, John would make up some crazy excuse for those two between being the Rodeo man in the barn with W or the teacup princess with Mackenzie, he was ultimately the best PaPaw anyone could ask for. Between his love for his family and politics, John found peace in riding his horses, shopping for antiques and guns with his wife ya-ya. And maybe a Green Bay Packer game here and there. John and Peggy's love was one of a kind after John never learned to say no to ya-ya. John was one if you ever mentioned his name around the Houston Fire Department you were for sure in for a hard laugh with all the stories the titanium man did with his 9 lives. John will be missed and this might be his last road trip but he knew he was loved and made an impact in everyone's life that he came across.

Enjoy your road trip Papaw you deserve it.
