Graveside funeral services for John Alan "Jay" Crymes Jr., age 56, are scheduled for 11 AM, Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Carter Cemetery with Bro. Mike Loveday officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 10:30 AM until 11 AM, service time.
Mr. Crymes, a member of First Baptist Church, Collinston, LA, passed away March 22, 2025. He graduated from Bastrop High School in 1988 and served two years in the US Army in Germany. He was a great and loving father and son, as well as a loyal friend. He had personality to spare and was quite a character to be around. He never met a stranger or missed an opportunity to talk to someone about God. He was funny and enjoyed making others laugh. He was very much loved and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John H. And Martha Crymes and Travis and Sally Riggin.
He is survived by his mother, Frances Riggin Hammons, and husband Wayne; father, John Alan Crymes, Sr., and wife Belinda; daughters, Brandi Crymes and Cherity Crymes; son, Chantz Crymes, and wife Molly; stepbrothers, Rick Hammons, David Hammons and Jay Howell; stepsister, Joni Porter; grandchildren, Kameryn Brixey, Kylie Brixey and Jackson "Bear" Meredith.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Tully, Carl Stewart, Vince Faulkenbury, Brad Nale, Steve Crymes and Bruce Crymes. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Crymes, James Nale, David Crymes, Jerry Foster, Lance Buckner and Dustin Crymes.
