John Edward Daunhauer II, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023. John was born on May 9, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late John and Eleanor (Kuchenbrod) Daunhauer.
John "Cigar" retired from General Electric after 33 years of employment. Cigar was blessed with a wonderful marriage to Janice for 42 blessed years. He was a member of Beechmont Baptist Church and Moose Lodge #5. Cigar loved to sing karaoke, especially with his wife and friends at the Moose Lodge. He was always ready to have a good time and had an amazingly outgoing, fun personality. John was skilled at all types of carpentry, and Papa could fix everything. Cigar always was busy doing something. He always enjoyed his breakfast gatherings with friends from work and their families. Cigar loved his family and his fun spirit will be missed by all that knew him.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his children, Kris Ann, Johnny and Brent; and his grandson, Kerry.
Left to cherish the wonderful memories of John is his loving wife of 42 years, Janice Daunhauer; his children, Krista and Michael; his daughter-in-law, Edna; his sister, Nancy; his grandchildren, William "BJ", Kyle, Zachary, Sarah and Ben; along with many extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2PM on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Homes West, 4400 Dixie Highway, with Pastor Paul Mathenia officiating. Friends may call on the family on Wednesday from 1PM until 8PM and Thursday from 10AM until service time at the funeral home.
