John W. Davies

John W. Davies, age 80, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024.
Survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna Davies; daughters, Lisa (Gary) Halatek, and Christine (Donald) Rogina; grandchildren, David Halatek, Gary Halatek, Arielle (Ryan) Roebuck, Lorelei Halatek, Ryan, Emily, and Ethan Rogina; great granddaughter, Remi Roebuck and one on the way. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, Howard (LaVonna) Davies; sister, Judith (Jim) Dunn and his great nephew, Craig Michael Dunn.
Following his graduation from Joliet Central High School in 1961, John enlisted in the Navy Reserves for two years. He married the love of his life, Donna in 1967 and raised his two daughters with her. A 30 plus year career in the steel industry preceded his retirement, where he loved spending time with his family and friends. He looked forward to monthly meetups as family expanded and was eagerly awaiting great-grandbaby number two.
Fishing, golfing, attending breakfast brunches with his buddies, working out with his senior citizen group and solving crosswords filled his days. Assorted pets filled his home along with wildlife that came to visit on their deck. He and Donna found joy together in bingo dates at the library and plays/musicals at Governors State.
John had a heart of gold and was an animated storyteller. You didn't walk away from him without feeling loved and loving him in return.
A Celebration of life for John will be held at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431 on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 2:00 - 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project would be appreciated.
