Magdalena Alicea

Magdalena Alicea Morales, 90, of Shorewood, Illinois, passed away on July 23, 2025. Born on June 27, 1935, in Yauco Puerto Rico, she was a beloved, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She is survived by her daughters Madelin Barnes, Milagros Borrero and Maribelle Lozada.

Survived by her children; Julie (Chuck) Barnes, Milagros- Tatita (Frank) Borrero, and Mari (Bengie) Lozada; grandchildren, Bengito (Vanessa), Elliott (Vanessa), Daniel (Dixie), Vanessa, Christina, Melissa (Jamen), Salena (Bruce), Wilfredo "Pito" (Lauren), Magdalena "Pita", Antonio "Tony", and Chaz; 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by her husband, Eligio "Wilo" Alicea; son, Wilfredo Alicea; parents, Lorenzo and Josefa Morales; siblings, Radames Morales, Nerida (Leo) Rivera, and Lorenzo (Cadida) Morales.

Magdalena was born on June 27, 1935, in Yauco, Puerto Rico. At the age of 12, she moved with her family to Chicago, where she began building a life marked by resilience, ambition, and love.

She attended Chicago Public Schools and later pursued training in cosmetology. While she briefly explored a career in beauty, Magdalena found her true calling in business. A driven and visionary entrepreneur, she founded and successfully operated her own travel agency for 25 years, helping countless clients explore the world while building a legacy of independence and service.

Magdalena will be remembered for her strength, determination, and generous spirit. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and mentor whose impact will be felt for generations.

She leaves behind a family who loved her dearly and a community that will forever cherish her memory.

Visitation for Magdalena will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson St., Joliet, IL. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 Brook Forest Ave., Shorewood, IL 60404, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
