John Davis

New Middletown - John Davis, Sr. was the pinnacle of what a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend can be, passed gently into the arms of Jesus surrounded by his family on February 26, 2026.

He married Diane (Book) on October 25, 1980, and they shared 45 wonderful years together. He is survived by Diane, his sister Ruth (Bill) Riley, children John Davis Jr., Carrie (Michael) Palmer, and Ashley Davis, grandchildren Hampton, Hannah, Beckett, Benjamin, and Alyssa, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Patricia (King) Davis, and sister, Mary Elizabeth.

John's life exemplified the "I am third" principle of putting faith first, others second, and self third. His faith in Jesus was the guiding principle of his life, and his devotion to his family and his community will echo for generations to come.

He was co-owner of Novak and Davis Insurance in New Middletown, where he helped many families protect what mattered most to them.

John was a faithful servant to the New Springfield Church of God, the New Middletown Lions Club, past president of the Springfield Athletic Boosters, past president of the school board at Springfield Local, and served for many years as a member of the Springfield Township Baseball Association.

He coached dozens of sports teams throughout the years and impacted countless lives, most recently as "Coach Dad" as an assistant softball coach at Geneva College.

The family would like to thank Dr. Christy Samaris and the staff at the Cleveland Clinic for taking such wonderful care of John.

Calling hours will be held 4pm-8pm Monday, March 2nd at the New Springfield Church of God, 3649 E. Garfield Rd, New Springfield, OH 44443.

Additional calling hours at the church will be held 10am-11am Tuesday, March 3rd with funeral services to follow at 11am.

In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the New Springfield Church of God.
