John Del Real

John Del Real, age 67, born and raised resident of San Pedro, CA. Died peacefully at his home with his wife and family at his side after a brief battle with lung cancer, on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Born in San Pedro, CA on May 3rd, 1947 to the late Roy and Rose Del Real, John was well-known around town. He attended school, and church in his beloved city, and even married the love of his life Ida Del Real there in 1998. John worked as a longshoreman until his health prohibited him to do so. John was an active member of the Narcotics Anonymous program where he mentored, sponsored, and shared life experiences with other men and women. Here he turned friends into family and was loved and adored by many. He is survived by his loving wife, Ida; Three daughters, Tina, Sabrina, and Regina; Two sons, Ray and Gilbert; 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. John also had many loved family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, John Del Real Jr. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mc Nerney's Mortuary, 570 West 5th Street, San Pedro, CA, 90731. On Friday, October 3, 2014, viewing will be from 3:00pm - 6:00pm and Rosary from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at McNerney's. Funeral Mass will be offered at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1292 West Santa Cruz, San Pedro, CA 90732 on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 10:30 am followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park.
