John B. Deli, Sr., 92, of S. Mulberry Street, died Monday, October 9, 2023 at The Grove in New Wilmington. He was born in New Castle on July 28, 1931, the son of the late Felix and Nora (Bucci) Deli. Mr. Deli was married to the late Shirley Mae (Rhodes) Deli, who died on June 5, 1998. Mr. Deli was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Korea Era. He worked for George K. Garrett, Co. in Ellwood City, retiring after 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, completing jigsaw puzzles, Westerns and Army movies, and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by three children, Gerry A. Dorsey and her husband Larry of Volant, Karen R. Padavano and her husband Anthony, and John B. 'Dusty' Deli Jr., and his wife Heather, both of New Castle, five grandchildren, Larry Dorsey, Haley Sturkie, Corey Deli, Michael Padavano, and Amy Doran, and five great-grandchildren, Samuel, Frank, Elliott, Annie, and Roman.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Carmen Deli, and five sisters, Pearl Palmer, Sara Barbato, Clara Lombaiso, Donna Alusia, and Angeline DeGaton.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A blessing service will be celebrated Monday, October 16, 2023 at 6:00 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Deacon John Carran will officiate. New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Rites Monday, October 16, 2023 at 6:00 PM. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
