Palmyra/Hoffmeister, NY: DeVuyst, John R. "Dick"; died on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the age of 85. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Addie DeVuyst; sister Barbara Arthurton and son Geoffrey DeVuyst. He is survived by his wife Sharon DeVuyst, brother Douglas DeVuyst, son Kevin (Renee) DeVuyst, daughter in law Sonya DeVuyst; granddaughters Morgan (Peter) Bessey and Sarah DeVuyst; and great grandson Liam DeVuyst.
Dick grew up in Palmyra, NY. He was a mechanic and avid car enthusiast. He spent time as a mechanic while serving in the Army in Germany. He traveled the country with his family while working for Mobil Chemical. He loved the outdoors and eventually moved to Hoffmeister, NY. There, he would enjoy hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and the peacefulness the Adirondacks offered. Dick was a lifelong member of the Morehouse Rod and Gun Club and member of Road Knights Car Club.
Calling hours will be held on Friday January 26 from 5-8pm at Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc. 123 West Main Street Palmyra, NY 14522. Funeral Service will be at 10:00am on Saturday, January 27at Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, with a burial service at 12:30pm at Lakeview Cemetery 426 Court St. Penn Yan, NY 14527. The funeral home proudly flies the United States Army flag in honor of Dick's service to our country.
