John L. Dexter, 69,of Groton passed away on November 2, 2024, after an extended illness. John was born December 21, 1954 in Cortland, NY to the late Albert and Ella Dexter.
After graduating High School, John served three years in the US Navy,. Several years after his time in service ended, he met and married his wife of 42 years, Anne Dexter. John was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, always in pursuit of that Big Buck. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle any chance he could. John was tough and always told it like it was, never sugar coating anything. Whenever anyone needed anything, he would always be there to help no matter what, he would always make time for them.
John is survived by his wife Anne; his daughters, Tammy Dexter, Justine Dexter, and Tina (Michael) Rich; his 7 grandchildren Gregory, Ashton, Colton, Brittany, Ethan, Kimberly, and Ella; his brothers, Ron (Mary) Dexter, Fred Dexter, Barry Dexter, Kim (Debbie) Dexter, and Kevin (Denise) Dexter; as well as several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents and his brother Gary Dexter.
Per John's wishes there will be no services. Any contributions that you would like to make in John's honor can be directed to the Groton Ambulance Fund, Groton, NY.
