John Diebold Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Potere-Modetz Funeral Home - Rochester on Jan. 8, 2025.
John "Jack" Diebold
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of John "Jack" Diebold, who peacefully left us on December 22, 2024, after a long and richly fulfilling life. Born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1933, Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew him.
Jack's love story began in high school, where he met and fell in love with the girl of his dreams, JoAnn. Their deep affection for each other was the foundation of a marriage that lasted more than 71 years. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and shared memories.
A sports enthusiast, Jack was an accomplished basketball and football player in high school. He carried his passion for sports into adulthood, enjoying golfing, bowling, skiing, and woodworking throughout his life. His zest for life, his great sense of humor and his ability to bring joy to others never wavered.
Professionally, Jack's career was nothing short of remarkable. He began as a die maker apprentice at Chrysler Corporation, and through dedication and hard work, he rose to the position of Director of Finance, retiring at the age of 55. His career was a testament to his commitment, integrity, and ability to inspire others.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, JoAnn; his son, Steven; daughters, Nancy (Popa) and Jan (Lehotsky); and eight cherished grandchildren, all of whom were his pride and joy. Jack was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Diebold. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion that will live on in the hearts of his family.
A visitation will be held on January 11th from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., with a short service at 11:30 a.m. at Potere-Modetz Funeral home in Rochester Michigan.
