John Dingley Obituary

Dingley, John
COHOES - John R. "Jack" Dingley, 87, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, after a brief illness, at his daughters' home, in Ballston Lake, N.Y. He was born in Cohoes, on December 10, 1937, and raised by his uncle and aunt, the late Henry and Gretchen Pellitier. He was a graduate of Cohoes High School and a lifelong resident of Cohoes.
Jack retired as a firefighter from the City of Cohoes after 22 years of service to the residents of Cohoes. Prior to that, he worked for the Cohoes Carry Bag Company. In retirement, he continued working in his wood shop, crafting cabinetry and other wood creations.
Jack was devoted to both family and friends. He learned his craftsmanship skills at the knee of his uncle, Henry. He further perfected his woodworking skills through an apprenticeship at HVCC. Jack was always there to lend a hand or to help someone in need. Jack is survived by his wife of 70 years, Anna Klar Dingley of Cohoes; his two daughters, SueAnn (Thomas) Nicholson and Elizabeth (Robert) Marion; and brothers, Raymond and William. He is also survived by two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Robert; grandson, Mark E. Bouleris; and brothers, Albert, MD, and Thomas.
He was a member of Evening Star Lodge, No. 75, Free and Accepted Masons, Latham, N.Y., Latham Chapter No. 168, Royal Arch Masons, and Van Rensselaer Star Chapter, No. 12, Order of the Eastern Star, East Greenbush, N.Y.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Community Hospice, especially Kelly and Colleen, during the final days of his journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to The Community Hospice Foundation, 310 South Manning Blvd., Albany, N.Y. 12208 or www.givetocommunityhospice.org/donate/ or to the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, N.Y. 12204.
The family will receive friends at the Dufresne Funeral Home, Inc., 216 Columbia St., Cohoes, N.Y., Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., an Eastern Star Memorial Service will be conducted by Van Rensselaer Star Chapter, No. 12, followed by a Masonic funeral service, conducted by Evening Star Lodge, No. 75. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 26, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes.

Anna- I´m so very sorry to hear of Jack´s passing. Jack was always so friendly and kind when I lived in the apt over Jim and Nor. Such a nice man!

Please know I´m keeping you all in my prayers.

Mrs. Dingley, Sue Ann, Elizabeth and family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy and condolences on Mr. Dingley's passing. I remember him and the entire family fondly from living down the street growing up on Congress. It's been a very long time since those days but the memories are still there. May he rest in peace and your memories comfort you in your loss.
