John Edward Dirling

John Edward Dirling, age 79, U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, of Hillsdale, Michigan, passed away peacefully under the loving care of his family on March 25, 2023. John was born on July 21, 1943, in Salina, Kansas, to John "Ted" and Kathryn (Struble) Dirling.
John is survived by his beloved children Jody (David) Raguckas, Amy (Mark) Irish, Charmaine (Mike) Ryan, Michelle Dirling-Reynolds, and Michael (Kris) Dirling; loving grandchildren Tonisha, Alex, Amber, Katherine, Abigail, Sammie, Andrew, Christopher, and Kourtnie; cherished 4 great-grandchildren; dear brothers Roger (Vicki) Dirling, Kenny Dirling, and Craig (Shirley) Dirling; fond uncle to several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in passing by his devoted wife of 50 years, Bonnie Dirling; parents John "Ted" and Kathryn Dirling.
John was a police officer for 15 years, held many manufacturing supervisory roles at various companies throughout his career, and retired 2 years ago from Tenneco after 23 years as a plant supervisor. John enjoyed fishing and camping, especially going up to the Traverse City K.O.A. for 2 weeks during Cherry Festival every year with his wife. He will be missed and remembered by many people especially those who loved him.
At his request cremation has taken place and a memorial service with Military Honors to honor the life of John E. Dirling will be held at the Hampton Funeral Home-Hillsdale on Saturday, April 8, 2023, beginning at 12:00 P.M. with Dr. Samuel E. Wickard officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, April 7, 2023, from 3:30-8 P.M. and Saturday, April 8, from 11 A.M. until the time of the service. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Toys for Tots, Hillsdale County, Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
