New Iberia LA - A Mass of Christian Burial for Sir Knight John Carroll Dominique 91, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Saint Edward Roman Catholic Church (175 Ambassador W. Lemelle Drive) with Fr. Donald Bernard, Celebrant, officiating.
Entombment will follow at Saint Edward Roman Catholic Church Cemetery Mausoleum (Dale Street) in
New Iberia, LA.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Fletcher Funeral Home beginning at 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A rosary to be recited at 5:30 P.M. followed a ritual by the Knights of Peter Claver, the American Legion Robert B. Green Post 533 and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
The visitation will resume on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Fletcher Funeral Home beginning at 7:30 A.M. until 9:30 A.M.
Military Honors will be rendered.
Sir Knight John Carroll Dominique was a native of Loreauville, LA until he was 18 years old. Following that, he became a resident of
New Iberia, LA for 73 years. He departed this life on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at his residence.
As a devout Catholic servant, Sir Knight John Carroll Dominique was a member of Saint Edward Roman Catholic Church where he served as a Minister of Hospitality, Church Trustee, past member of the church Parish Council, and member of the Booster Club. He was a Charter Member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council No. 63 with sixty-three years of membership and Prosper A. Bijou Grand Assembly No. 16 Fourth Degree Knights of Peter Claver where he served as Faithful Navigator from 2007-2009. He attained his education in the schools of Iberia Parish and was a Jonas Henderson High School, Class of 1955. After furthering his education, he was a graduate of Tuskegee Institute, Class of 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He then decided to enlist in the United States Army and was an honorably discharged Veteran of the Korean War. His commitment to his country did not end after his honorable discharge, but he continued to serve in the local American Legion Robert B. Green Post 533. He worked at Acadiana Pontiac and Buick which is now Musson-Patout as a Service Manager for thirty-seven years, was the co-operator of Affordable Used Cars in
New Iberia, LA, and former auto-mechanic teacher at Saint Martin Vocational Technical School. Moreover, he was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. His legacy will be remembered by being a mentor to many young men in the community.
He leaves to cherish his memory and to celebrate his legacy, one son, David Dominique (Sylvia) of
New Iberia, LA; two daughters, Yvette M. Dominique Hamilton of
New Iberia, LA and Sonya A. Dominique of River Ridge, LA; Bryan J. Jones of
New Iberia, LA; six grandchildren, Kendra L. Francis of Houston, TX, Kasey A. Francis, Sr. of Lake Charles, LA, Yves M. Hamilton of
New Iberia, LA, Kaleb Dominique of Lafayette, LA, Alondra I. Dominique and Elysa C. Dominique of Glendale, AZ, and; four great-grandchildren, Karson K. Francis of Opelousas, LA, Karter Francis of Maurice, LA, Kali Francis of Lafayette, LA, and Kasey A. Francis, Jr. of Lake Charles, LA; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Boutte Dominique; late wife, Imelda Tauriac Dominique; his parents, Portice Dominique and Florence Castillo Dominique; son, Francis Carroll Dominique.
Active Pallbearers will be Members of the Knights of Peter Claver Council No 63.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of Prosper A. Bijou Grand Assembly No. 16 Fourth Degree Knights of Peter Claver, Ministers of Hospitality of Saint Edward Roman Catholic Church, former employees of Musson Patout, James Russell, Jr., Rufus Russell, John Nolan Spencer, Willis B. Porter, John Butler, Sr., Eugene Dominique, Mark Anthony Livingston, Brian Joseph Jones, Wendell Troy Auguster, Gregory Day, Ronald Day, Otis Deal, Sr., Reggie Lewis, and Lloyd Sigue, Jr.
