John Herbert Domnick

John Herbert Domnick, 81, of Coralville, passed away at the Bird House – Hospice of Johnson County on February 18, 2026 after a long illness.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

John was born on May 23, 1944 in Peoria, Illinois to Alvin and Veva (Wright) Domnick. After graduating high school, John started his career at Caterpillar Tractor, working his way up to working in quality control. After over 35 years of service and hard work he retired in 2009.

He married Karen Hoffman in Peoria, Illinois. She passed away in October of 2007. On August 11, 2013 he married Janet McMorris Muench. The couple moved to Coralville in 2015 and enjoyed many great years together.

John had many hobbies. He enjoyed golf, horse racing, drag racing, being outdoors, tennis, bowling, boxing and watching the Kentucky Derby. Spending time with his family and friends, as well as yearly trips to Hawaii were his favorite times.

John is survived by his loving wife, Janet; brother, James (Diane) Domnick; sister, Ann (Doug) Aman, sister-in-laws: Roberta (Lawrance) Shaw, Beverly (Ray) Bryant, Marilyn (James) Dean, Sue (Lowell) Lutt, Venita McMorris (Ken Nash), Debra (Dell) Briggs and Linda Domnick; brother-in-laws: Mel (Lynn) McMorris and Dave Wiegand; stepsons: Cory (Sharon) Muench and Brock Muench (Anna Amoroso); three step grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Karen; brother, Fred Domnick and sister, Mary Wiegand.
